It’s the day after a long weekend … how’s it going?

The day after a long weekend can often feel disorienting. Especially if you got away or did something you might not normally do. Maybe you’re playing catch up because you didn’t get anything done all weekend. Or you’re like “NOW I’m going to start that new eating regime!” And then Tuesday feels like “Monday” and your whole week just feels off! We’ve all been there, right? LOL.

That’s just for us adults. Some kids (and teachers) started school and then had a 4 day weekend so it feels like a false start and now starting again. And some kids (and teachers) had their first day of school today so it really is a fresh start!

New beginnings. Starting again. Whatever it is, what are you going to do differently today? How are you going to move towards your goals? Even if you don’t have any goals, what are you going to do to feel GOOD about your day?

Sometimes that can be challenging. Especially if you are feeling overwhelmed or have something going on or are just plain unhappy. It’s hard to feel good about your day sometimes. And honestly, sometimes we just want to feel grumpy or sad and be in that feeling for a bit. And that’s totally OK.

But something I realized is that we have to create our good day. It is up to us. We have to own it. What makes one person feel good about their day can be totally different for another. And what makes you feel good one day can change the next! Argh. Life!

Here are some things that make me feel good about my day: getting outside, moving my body in some way (walking, working out, yoga, or tap dancing), being present with my son without the distraction of my phone, connecting with my husband, connecting with other people, doing something for ME (reading, writing, dancing) and doing at least one thing that feels productive (cleaning, laundry, email follow-up, etc.). I have about 15 hours in my day to figure out how to do some or all of those things. LOL.

“Don’t expect a great day; create one.”

~Bob Proctor

What does a good day look like for you? Don’t let these long holiday weekends throw you off! You got this. Own it.

Do what makes you happy.
