Wait… it’s already Halloween?! Seriously, how did we get here? One minute it’s back-to-school shopping, and the next — boom — Halloween is tomorrow.
I swear, we’ve been in spooky season since August. And Christmas? Apparently, that kicked off sometime around Labor Day. My son is devastated that the Halloween aisles were already dwindling at the beginning of October — the poor kid was just trying to enjoy his skeletons, and suddenly it’s all “Ho Ho Ho.” Can we not let the pumpkins live a little?
It’s wild how everything feels so rushed now. The second we start one thing, the world is already pushing us to the next — next holiday, next season, next goal, next Amazon sale. No wonder it’s hard to be in the moment when the moment barely gets a chance to exist.
And honestly, I write about this stuff as much for me as for anyone else. Because I need the reminder, too: it’s okay to pause. It’s okay to not keep up with the chaos.
Put the phone down for five minutes (yes, it’s hard, yes, it’s designed to be addictive). Take a breath. Sit in the quiet. Look around and actually see what’s happening in your life right now – the little moments you might otherwise scroll past.
We can’t control how fast the world spins, but we can decide to slow ourselves down.
So go enjoy those little things — the trick-or-treating, the giggles under costumes, the candy you swore you’d “save for the kids.” The world’s going to keep moving fast with or without us. Might as well enjoy the ride — and maybe eat a few Reese’s along the way.
“Let the world rush. You can choose to linger.”
