I’ve been a little bored in my workouts recently.
Well, part of it is probably because I took a long break. You know, getting married and honeymooning and all (did you see yesterday’s post?) …
The DOMS (when stuff hurts … otherwise known as Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) was pretty bad last week, too, but I think I am back to normal now. LOL!
It has been awhile since I’ve set fitness goals.
They have been pretty generic, like “I want to feel and be stronger.”
That’s great. But how? Where? What does that look like?
I have my eyes set on getting back on stage in the Fall. It has been awhile (4 years!) and I am curious to see what I have been able to build.
(an example of a few months of hard, intentional work)
And I have an amazing husband who is actually excited about the challenge of cooking food for me that will fit my diet during prep. I know! Where did he come from? A dream come true! 😃
Anyway. I digress.
So, feeling uninspired and realizing I need to set more specific goals…
I have decided that I am going to intentionally focus on a body part that I would like to improve upon.
I have kind of been doing this, but not intentionally. Not in any focused or structured way. Not really hitting it hard. Not hitting it multiple times a week. Not going as heavy as I could be going.
So, yeah…
I made a decision.
Trying something new.
Over the next 12 weeks I have decided that I am going to focus on my glutes.
Woohoo!
My husband is very upset about this (not!). 😉
I am doing a 12 week program to help inspire me.
It’s the “Butt Bible Challenge” by Pauline Nordin. Check her out. She’s pretty cool.
Most of this stuff I have done before, but it’s nice to have a workout plan to go with it, explanations, a FB page support group, etc. That will definitely keep me motivated for the next few weeks.
Oh, and something else I tried … working out without gloves.
I know. Me? A musician?
I haven’t washed my gloves in awhile and they were NASTY. So I went without today. And my hands were fine, even with my wedding band on. Dumbbells, barbells and all. Woohoo!
So, another YEY for trying new things!
Today’s shoulder workout (also new!) inspired by Nicole Wilkins:
Try new things.
Do what makes you happy.
