Hamilton.
It’s a constant in my Facebook feed these days. To be honest, I am very grateful for it considering all the other posts that are predominantly pandemic/COVID-related.
Lin-Manuel Miranda.
He’s practically a household name.
Did you know he and illustrator Jonny Sun wrote a beautiful book called “Gmorning, Gnight! little pep talks for me & you”?
You didn’t?
Neither did I until recently!
It is awesome.
I don’t buy too many books these days. Most of the books I read are Kindle library loans.
But this one? I had to have it.
It’s a book you can read all the way through or just simply flip through at your leisure and take in its’ little gems.
Like this one:
Set the thermostat for your heart today.
The temp where you like it.
You know yourself, you know what you need.
Take your time.
WOW.
This really spoke to me.
I have been struggling with this during these uncertain times.
I often feel an underlying current of unsettled-ness and anxiety.
Listening to what I need, what my heart needs is an important daily practice that I have only recently fully allowed myself to do.
Allowing myself to do things that set my heart on the happy setting.
Like yoga.
Getting outside.
Buying books I love.
Puzzling.
Listening to Podcasts that inspire.
Yes, I have been doing most of these things the past few months. But to do so with intention, as a gift to myself, feels quite different.
What can you do that will make your heart feel good today?
Take your time.
And remember to do what makes you happy.
