Whew. It’s been a minute since I’ve written anything longer than a to do list. Life has been… lifing. You know, the usual combo platter of world chaos, kid chaos, and trying not to spiral over things I can’t control (which is a full-time job in itself).
But recently, I did a thing. A big thing. I stepped out of my comfort zone and into a leadership role as the lead trainer at my gym. I know! Wild. Most people who know me were like, “Oh my gosh, that’s perfect for you!” Meanwhile, I was over here Googling “How to be a leader when you’re an introvert.”
Sure, I’ve spent years wrangling teenagers and teaching kids (which should honestly qualify you for a Master’s in crisis management), but leading adults? That’s a whole new adventure. Thankfully, I’ve got an incredible team — no drama, super supportive, flexible, and just fun to work with. So, in many ways, it’s been a smooth transition. But the internal shift? That’s where the work is.
I’m not naturally a “take charge” type. I’m more of a “how can I help?” person. So being the one making decisions, setting the tone, and stepping out front feels… stretchy. But in the best way. I’m learning to embrace the awkward, carve out time for the admin side of things (while not letting it eat up my me time), and even train for something I’m not even close to ready for — the Athlete Games this August (an athletic competition for trainers). I can’t do any of the workouts yet, but hey, I’m showing up. I’m trying. I’m leading by example. And that counts.
So here’s your gentle nudge: When was the last time you did something that made you slightly uncomfortable, but deeply proud?
Because stepping out of your comfort zone might just open doors you didn’t know were there — to growth, to creativity, to connection.

Maybe this week, take one tiny step toward something brave. You never know what you’ll find on the other side.
