Tomorrow is a big day in the United States. It’s Election Day, and if it feels like everyone around you is on edge—well, you’re not alone. This year, emotions are running high, and it’s all too easy to get swept up in the tension. Each side believes wholeheartedly that they’re choosing the best path for our country, and trying to change someone’s mind? That’s about as effective as asking a toddler to put on pants the first time you ask.
But as we head into tomorrow, it’s worth remembering that, no matter the results, we’re all still here together, bumping carts in the grocery aisle, waiting in line at the coffee shop, and doing the best we can. No matter who you support, each of us is voting with a vision for a better future. And whether that vision wins or loses, we’re all going to have to wake up the next day and find a way to keep moving forward—together.
So, tomorrow night, if things don’t go the way you’d hoped, check in on your people—yes, even those whose opinions make you shake your head. Offer a listening ear or a shoulder, because in the end, we’re more than our voting choices; we’re friends, family, neighbors, humans just trying to get through the day.
Be gentle with yourself and those around you. Move your body, nourish yourself, hydrate, and maybe even throw in a slice of pizza and glass of wine (or two or three…). Take a deep breath and remember: we’re all doing the best we can.
“Serenity is not freedom from the storm, but peace amid the storm.”
