Soooo, school has started, pumpkin spice lattes have officially arrived, and fall décor (along with a sprinkle of Christmas) is already taking over the stores … and it’s not even Labor Day yet. And this NOVA weather—wow! Last week was all about those gorgeous fall vibes. But now? Summer’s back in full force. Talk about a tease!
A change of season always means a change of pace. In the Rosenberg household, one of us goes back to school (spoiler: not me!), and it shifts everything. Routines change, schedules get scrambled, and our 3-year-old is still adjusting to Daddy being gone during the day. He’s become extra clingy—can’t even leave the room without hearing “Mommy, Mommy, Mommy!” And bathroom privacy? Well, that went out the window as soon as he mastered door handles. 😉
Despite the chaos, I actually love a new season. It’s like pressing a little restart button. The beginning of the school year feels like a fresh start, even though we’re not flipping the calendar to a new year just yet.
This shift always makes me pause and think about what I want to focus on in the coming months. Sure, as a stay-at-home-mom, most of my day is ruled by the whims of a 3-year-old. But it’s still fun to imagine new adventures, places to explore, and weekend activities (when we’re not planning around football games, of course—ugh! Sorry, guys, I’m just here for the wine and snacks. LOL).
Change can be a pain, I know. But leaning into it, finding something fresh to embrace—that’s where the magic happens. So, let’s welcome the season of change with open arms (and maybe a pumpkin spice latte in hand).
“The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.”
~Alan Watts
