I feel like I start every blog post like this—but honestly, there’s a lot going on right now. Globally, politically, emotionally… it’s chaos. Protests. Bombings. Political violence. Deep division. The headlines are heavy, and the weight of it all can feel unbearable. It’s overwhelming, unpredictable, and often just plain heartbreaking.
If you’ve been here for a while, you know I steer clear of politics in this space. Not because I don’t care, but because I try to hold space for all perspectives. Sure, you can probably guess which way I lean, but I really do make an effort to understand different viewpoints. I try to stay informed. I try to listen.
But sometimes—I just can’t.
Sometimes I scroll past the headlines because I’m already full to the brim. I want to care more. I want to do more. But the truth is, I also have a clingy 4 year old who needs breakfast, a floor that desperately needs vacuuming, and a nervous system that is this close to short-circuiting.
Parenting while the world burns? Not for the faint of heart.
So I do what I can:
I breathe.
I pause.
I remind myself that I can’t fix everything—but I can choose how I show up.
Because in the middle of all the noise, what we can control often comes down to this:
“You may not be able to change the world, but you can change how you move through it.”
So if you’re feeling helpless, hopeless, or just plain exhausted—you’re not alone.
Take care of yourself. Truly. Drink the water. Take the walk. Let the laundry wait if it needs to.
Be kind, even when it’s hard. Especially when it’s hard.
And do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
This week, pick one small thing that helps you feel grounded—then do it. Not because it’ll change the world, but because it might help you keep going.
