So. We are in the midst of COVID-19 “social distancing”. It has been one week now since schools have closed. We don’t know how long this will last. We don’t know what to expect. We are in a time of uncertainty and uncharted territory.
And it can be a little scary.
Or a lot scary, depending on your situation.
For me, this has really reinforced how much I THRIVE on routine. I am a creature of habit and a lot of my accomplishments are based on well-established routines in my life.
A morning routine.
A workout routine.
A nightly routine.
A need-to-decompress routine.
A weekend routine.
But what happens when every day now feels like the weekend?
I stumbled across this little gem that has truly begun to guide how I think about and structure my days:
WOW. This is just perfect for the time we are in now.
Every day I try to remember the things I am grateful for (I did get out of my journaling routine where I wrote that down … need to get back to that!).
I check in with at least one or two people.
I try to continue to let go of what life used to be like.
I go on at least one walk or run each day.
I get outdoors as much as possible.
Or sit outside on our deck — it has been so pretty the past two days!
Now that our gym has closed, I have started an in-home workout routine with bodyweight exercises, bands and dumbbells. Nothing crazy. Just 20 mins.
I have started playing piano again and am trying to tap into that creativity and share it with others.
Oh, and let’s not forget my latest interest … puzzles!
And my all time fav: reading.
And, of course, enjoying my husband’s amazing cooking! I am truly blessed.
What can you do that will help bring yourself and others more joy and peace? It’s OK to feel the feelings you are feeling, but don’t let them take over your life.
Do what makes you happy.
